After scoring the role of Cindy Campbell in 2000, Faris returned in 2001 for Scary Movie 2, and was then seen in 2002's The Hot Chick and 2003's Lost in Translation (stealing the spotlight fromScarlett Johansson). With little worry of typecasting, she signed on to do Scary Movie 3 (2003) and Scary Movie 4 (2006) before portraying her first true dramatic character in 2005's Brokeback Mountain, directed by Ang Lee.
